Hand Forged Damascus Steel Two-Piece Display Set - 40 Inch and 17 Inch

One long, one short, one sheath.

A matched Damascus pair: a 40-inch blade and a 17-inch companion, carried in a shared cowhide leather sheath. Both come out of the same forging work, which is the only way to get two blades whose patterns belong to each other. Buy them separately and you get two unrelated swords.

Damascus is made by welding layers of steel together, folding the billet, and drawing it out again — repeatedly, by hand. Etching the finished blade brings the layers to the surface as flowing lines. Because a person does the folding, the pattern is never repeatable. Yours is yours.

The 40 and the 17. The long blade carries the display. The short one gives you scale — mounted below or beside it, it makes the length of the 40 read properly, which a single blade on a bare wall never quite does. It's the difference between hanging an object and arranging a wall.

Care

Oil both blades lightly every few months with machine or mineral oil to protect the etch, and keep them dry. Keep the leather away from direct heat. Store out of reach of children.
